The Design Program was to create an new island tropical inspired family home for the north end of Palm Beach designed in the spirit of the Classic Palm Beach Style.  The land in the north end Palm Beach varies in lot sizes by street.  In this particular instance the narrow lot influenced the architectural layout and movement of the floor plan and the open landscaped area surrounding the home.

The family neighborhood environment of the north end of Palm Beach inspired the lush tropical landscape and pedestrian gate at the front yard, the coral stone and tumbled grey stone entry drive on the west side of the house and the rear loading garage.  The large existing Ficus tree on the southeast corner of the property anchors the new home.  The home was designed to take advantage of the front to back aspect of lot and to maximize the views form every room.  The east-west axis created on the first floor starting from the east fountain, to the runnel, pool, loggia, dining room and west garden provide a continuous sight line and blur the lines between inside and out.

The Design Elements:  Florida coquina, painted louvered shutters and front entry door, Chippendale pattern railings, second floor balconies, exposed rafter tails and detailed support brackets all lend theselves to the classic island tropical style and give this home a casual elegance.
